      Indoor 'occupancy' sensors rather than outdoor 'motion' sensors, but there is probably technical overlap. Old style sensors were simple, picking up any motion, but now they are programmed with algorithms to recognize patterns of motion, or tripping two different types of sensor etc. The contract related to patent disputes so I read a lot of technical specs.
