that we can and can be done to help remedy every social ill all the time anyway.

I think that's basically what I was saying - however you need to keep in mind that the Conservatives and Republicans and all of the wackos in that arena make the argument that charity can replace government - so an initiative like this one needs to be held up not as a "solution" to the problem because it really can't ever be comprehensive enough to solve it - but as a stop gap measure until such time as the government and medical community do what they should be doing to keep people from losing everything as a result of serious illness.

Florida used to have a homestead law which basically said that no one could take a person's house to satisfy a debt.  That was enacted to incentivize seniors to retire there way back when.  It wouldn't help people who rent, but it would protect some people from this kind of tragic economic destruction.  A law like that isn't the solution necessarily, but there are things that could be done - laws that could be enacted - single payer would be awesome...

that what you just wrote is discussion inspired by direct action.

I always felt more could be accomplished with an "inclusion, inclusion, always, always" credo, only tempered by the obvious--what one can do with what can be done.

I know you don't disagree, and appreciate your response, but as someone prone, if not fated, to over-analysis, the more I distill the less I forget to sing.

        :)
