  •  This is the main reason (8+ / 0-)

I stopped contributing and listening to NPR.  It's lazy--they are not doing the hard work of getting and understanding facts.  It's jejune journalism--and sophomoric, too.

    •  Last week, and before that... (5+ / 0-)

...they kept referring to the possibility of going over that supposed "fiscal cliff" as a "calamity."

They used the word "calamity" repeatedly. On what basis? Chris Hayes has made a really good case for it being a "fiscal curb."

    •  If they were to do the actual work of journalism, (6+ / 0-)

that would be accused of being what Dan Senor on that Stepthanopolous show kept on characterizing as the "hard left."   You know, the "Hard Left", organizations that Senor labeled as "trade unions" and the like.

In my day, the "hard left" was Bader-Meinhoff and the Red Brigade.  Now in Republican propaganda, the "hard left" is now a weakened union movement, a movement that was once considered to be loyal patriotic Americans who banded together for their mutual interests and economic protection.

It is interesting that on the Sunday shows not, guys like Senor, a person whose policy decisions brought about the disaster in Iraq, get to refer to trade unions as the "hard left" and no one else around the table blinks an eye.  How far we have come.
