  •  There is nothing partisan about saying, (9+ / 0-)

"Today, Republicans claimed the moon was made of Swiss cheese.  Two months ago, the House leadership said it was bratwurst and Mitch McConnell was asking for German mustard.  The various Republican leaders have not settled on what the moon is made of, while denying that rocks were found there by human beings."

There is no partisan accusation in all that.  That is a simple, factual, straight-forward combination of a set of facts:  that different statements were made on different dates and the inclusion of historical facts.

This odd notion that journalists must simply parrot the exact claims of politicians without any injection of reality is what demeans "journalists."    It they are simply megaphones, then they are not needed.

The application of intelligence to any statements or events is what makes a journalist valuable.  Combining pertinent facts is foremost in that.

God knows what they are teaching in journalism schools these days, but the whole industry seems to be getting much worse.

"The law is meant to be my servant and not my master, still less my torturer and my murderer." -- James Baldwin. July 11, 1966.
