  •  Being in Congress is an 80+ hour a week job (3+ / 0-)

There is a lot more to it than being in session on the floor of the House. Committee work, meeting with constituents, and electoral work are all very time consuming as well.

It's an exhausting job, as much as people like to cast it as part time.

clime parches on. terms: ocean rise, weather re-patterning, storm pathology, drout-famine, acceptance of nature.

Prove it... I would put my 51weeks of 70hrs a week against theirs ANYTIME...

Communting doesn't count (by plane, train, or automobile) and campaigning should be limited to 2 weeks per cycle.

If commuting counts - put me at close to 100hrs..

GOP = Generic Oppression of the Poor - me

While this is a great piece of satire, it is not very practical. Being a member of Congress is more than a full-time job--it is their whole life. These guys are working in the shower, during their commutes, through breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They're working over cocktails--hell, these guys are working in their sleep. We can disagree all day long about their views and their policies, but to call what they do a part-time job is kind of silly. Satire is, of course, allowed some leeway. :)
