I know people that live paycheck to paycheck because of low paying jobs that smoke. They ration their money so that they make sure to have money for cigarettes and weed. They have no savings, two decrepit cars but by god they are going to waste thousands of $$$ a year on bad habits.

The anxiety of not having money sends them to smoking to ease the anxiety - so they say.

      It's not a habit. It's an addiction.

I've never been a smoker but I recognize the addiction in my father, his two brothers, and one of his two sisters. Had it been a mere "habit," they'd all have quit before it killed them.

My dad is very heavy smoker and it is killing him. He was able to cut back when he had a heart attack but eventually right back to heavy smoking.

If a person is determined they can quit. I have seen it. A very good friend was a heavy smoker and was ordered by his Dr to quit or die. He took that drug Chantex (?) and he quit.

I think it is more mental addiction that keeps people from quitting. My co-worker at the age of 30 is already having health issues from smoking and she wants to quit. She is such a nervous high strung personality that she is afraid to try.
