Those are merely known facts that have been measured. The implications are, however, that if one in four American children are hungry, then their parents cannot afford to feed them.

People are incarcerated to punish and damage them and hurt them -- in the US. Not to improve them. These seriously damaged people are then released into a society that despises them for being ex-cons -- with $20 in their pockets. We have four times as many of those people running around than any other nation.

Fifty percent of our vets have serious brain damage when discharged. One of more of them kill themselves every day. At least once or twice a week, they kill their entire families and their family pet, as well.

Infant mortality ticking up every year, rather than down, is a sign of a failing state. Watching your child die of neglect causes severe mental damage.

But really, I don't put the blame for gun deaths on these people. I come at it from a completely different perspective because I study the daily slaughter of murder-suicides throughout the US -- most of which are not reported as homicides or even as violent crimes. Indeed, a third of them are considered mercy killings. It is somewhat rare when a gun is not used.

I've studied this a long time and have come to a different conclusion about guns and the American people. I find neither of them to be the cause of the problem.

...across nations through the use of "well being assessments." For example, American children have the lowest well being of children in the top 40 developed nations.

It's not a perfect measure, but it is statistically meaningful.
