  •  I doubt that it's against the establishment clause (3+ / 0-)

I didn't view the vid, but use of public parks is done quite frequently by religious organizations, even without permits, which I presume they have.  I would think even a nominal expense for security (which should be covered by the organizers, but might come from the Kansas coffers instead) would be considered reasonable and similar to what would be asked for a secular rally of a similar size expectation.

My hope is that they have expectations for a crowd of 50,000 to show up, they have all the facilities there to support that many (portajohns, security, electric generators) and that at most a couple hundred show up, including 150 protestors.  Of course, Fox would claim numbers 100 times what actually show, with palm trees and skillfully managed crowd shots to back up their claim, but I'd think a live broadcast could prove quite embarrassing.

Weather prediction from - 53 degrees and 20% chance of rain, wind only 9mph.  I hope it storms for them.

    •  Not the rally, but the Governor's explicit (0+ / 0-)

endorsement of said rally, an avowedly sectarian religious event. How is that not making "an establishment of religion"?
