    but I don't understand how anyone could argue that non-intervention in Libya is leftist. I guess that people who felt that way would disavow Susan Power as well.

    I think intervening on behalf of democracy and human rights is a leftist calling - at least for my kind of leftist.

      idea of what the preferred political and military landscape is after intervention, and rigorous after-the-fact assessments to see if they are being achieved.  I have my doubts Libya is a sterling example of such.

        progress. You can't expect a society who has been ruled by a brutal authoritarian government for 40 years to become a fully functioning democracy overnight, but Libya seems to be moving in the right direction.

        Would it have been better to let Gaddafi murder hundreds of his subjects? On a humanitarian basis, it seems like a no-brainer to me.
