    As for countercultures, absolutely there are, but in general people are pretty nonjudgmental so its not a societal clash or anything.  There's some pretty strong anarchist countercurrents here, I think best exemplified by the "reclaimed space" of hjartatorg, where buildings had been torn down down for new construction, the crisis hit and it got cancelled, there was an ugly empty lot in the middle of toen, and young people moved in and basically claimed it for themselves, to the point where eventually the city felt compelled to buy it to preserve it.  Its now sort of a coubtercukture central, adorned on all sides by great graffiti art, with a homebuilt skateboard park, an improvised stage for indie bands and DJs, etc.
