Wonderfully idiosyncratic radio station in the Sacramento market. I first heard "A Wizard of Earthsea" read aloud on their Sunday morning show, which was just two hours of reading from a book. I heard my first reggae on that station. Called up on the Travis T Hipp talk show and told the most shaggy dog version of the brick joke EVAR--pwnd that man solidly. Used to go visit in the middle of the night with a DJ I'd call up to make requests from--I'd go kick it for a couple hours and pick songs from actual vinyl albums to play on the air. KZAP succumbed to the great crapification of the airwaves somewhere in the '80s and its passing was greatly lamented. I'd like to see a radio renaissance--but I'm not holding my breath.
