    This is a documentary about the Ky Coal miners strike in 1976.  Look how they lived on Company owned property.  They were fighting for $5.00/hr wages.

      Harlan County, however, has a history of voting Democratic.  Even though he lost West Virginia Al Gore carried Harlan County, albeit very narrowly.  Bush handily won it over Kerry and the whole "war on coal" meme has kept it red ever since.

      2012 - Minimum wage $7.25/hr.

      No wonder nothing has changed.
