A majority of voters here are registered Democrats, but they are VERY conservative and many of them have not voted Democratic in decades.

Also, KY is one of the few states where the Tea Baggers have a favorability rating over 40%. How else do you think we got that nut-case, Rand Paul?

Obamacare is upheld by the SCOTUS. Time for some Kossacks to eat a plate of crow.

    •  Yes, KY usually goes GOP nationally, but... (3+ / 0-)

...it's somewhat schizophrenic when it comes to state-level offices.  Going back 50 years, you'll only find two Republican Governors (Louie Nunn 1967-71 and Ernie Fletcher 2003-07).  In the General Assembly, the State Senate is firmly Republican (current count 21-14-1), while the State House is firmly Democratic (current count 58-41).

In 2012, my area went for Romney and Andy Barr but elected Democrats to both houses of the General Assembly.

Don't get me started on Rand Paul.
