I actually respect principled libertarian views (as much as I disagree with them) more than I do the blatant corporatism that plagues 90% of the GOP.
I understand that more liberal-leaning libertarians may be anti-corporatism, but the Koch-funded version of "libertarian conservatism" that has taken hold in the GOP is largely anti-government, pro-corporations. I agree that the principled stands many libertarians take are worthy of respect when held in spite of crushing public/party opposition (even though I strongly disagree on many stances, like you say, principles are a good thing when people can be bought off), but I'm not sure how many of these so-called libertarians are truly free of corporate masters. Am I off-base in thinking this, or are you trying to communicate something different that I'm missing?

    •  No, you're totally right. (0+ / 0-)

Fuck the Koch Brothers. I'm talking the principled libertarians that were against the bailouts, that want to end the drug war, that want to bring the troops home and stop giving no-bid contracts to the defense industry. That don't give a shit about gay marriage. Yes, they also want to abolish the IRS and do some crazy things... but the neocons and Koch Brother "libertarians" are the ones that I dislike the most.
