Outgrew Red Lobster a long time ago. They're basically the McDonald's of seafood restaurants. There are classier options with better food.

More like Crud Lobster.  No self respecting Portuguese person would be caught dead eating that crap.  You want seafood, eat it at a real Portuguese restaurant.  Iron bound section of Newark is littered with them.  Fish is fresh from the ocean.  Costa Verde in South Amboy NJ is excellent.   Atlantic in Danbury, CT is also good.  Good food, cooked right there, healthy sized portions and I get to hang with my fellow compadres and commadres.

Same goes for the Olive Garden.  You want good Italian food go to a local Italian restaurant.  Good food, good people.   Fuck these fast good joints.

Having eaten seafood in places like San Francisco, Boston, Tampa Bay, the Keys, Orlando, Hawaii and lake country in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, Red Lobster just doesn't meet my standards anymore. If I want cheap ready-made seafood, I'll just hit Long John Silver's. Cheaper and you get the same quality of seafood anyway.

      •  Anybody know about McGrath's? (0+ / 0-)

Their website says they offer dental and a 401K to hourly workers, but nothing about medical.  Management, including assistant managers and kitchen managers have medical & dental.

It sounds better than most, and they have fresh seafood, but I can give it up for a while if necessary.

and I certainly don't eat at Olive Garden, but there are large parts of America that are hundreds and thousands of miles from the ocean and don't really have a seafood restaurant other than Red Lobster. This is especially true outside of the big cities in the Midwest and Great Plains.

So your suggestion to go to local places all over the Jersey shore may be great for you, but it doesn't work for a large section of America.

So I guess I don't begrudge someone from occasionally going to a Red Lobster if they live in a small city in the Midwest. It may be the only place they can get seafood that isn't fried.

No excuse for Olive Garden though.

between eating at Red Lobster or a local seafood place.  I'll hit up the local joint any time.

Or if all else fails, go to the grocery store and cook the damn seafood yourself.  It's cheaper and healthier.  Even grocery stores in the midwest carry seafood.  So using the excuse that you're 1000 miles away from an ocean for eating crap at Red Lobster just doesn't flyover any more.

...that Joe's Crab Shack is a good alternative.  Lobster prices are MUCH better.

for Red Lobster.  So, we decided to use it.

We had a meal of butter with some seafood, cheese biscuit, and broccoli flavoring added to it.   All of it was disgusting, except the Bloody Marys.

Yes, we left with empty bellies, but a nice buzz.
