      officially, but entire towns were erased--and i'm not being hyperbolic--- from the map in that one, along hundreds of miles of coast.

      Sandy's damage is quite significant, but its damage can't quite be compared to Katrina. The type of damage is different, and the very high price tag is largely a function of the incredibly massive population the storm impacted and the dense and intricate infrastructure such a population needs.
