When you screw up something this big and the solution you think of is accepting the resignation of the guy in charge of the tax office? Does SC have no IT security rules? No laws on protecting PII (personally identifiable information)? No rules for meeting minimum web standards? No state CIO?

Seriously, it affects every single citizen who has EVER filed taxes in SC. I'm so glad I've never lived in SC! Yeah!!! Now I have to hope Ohio, DC, MN, and MD are actually doing the bare minimum, something SC never bothered to budget to do and then, actually do.

I'm being just a tad bit hyperbolic. It's not ALL, just all records, debit cards, socials, other tax info for 700,000 businesses (or more) and millions of individuals since 1998 (probably when the database was created or maybe upgraded).  It just makes me so angry to have the Feds tell you your data is getting stolen and it takes almost 2 weeks to tell the citizens. I wonder if they were able to reach all those folks no longer living in SC and what about the folks who died? Hmmm, that's a wealth of stolen identities.
