    Worthwhile, indeed.

And while you are there, please click the OTHER PETITIONS button. Several active petitions seem sensible:

-- Give federal employees the day off on December 24th. That's a Monday, so don't expect to see anybody at the office anyway. Making it a holiday would smooth out workflow patterns.

-- There's a Falun Gong petition. Possible "organ harvesting" in China. Calls for an investigation. (4,000 signatures so far.)

-- "Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government." (118,000) -- and buy 'em lunch on Secession Day

-- "Remove marijuana from the federal Controlled Substance Act and allow the states to decide how they want to regulate it." (64,000)

-- "Support mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods (GMOs)." (49,000 and Lord knows we need that one.)

-- "Require free access over the Internet to scientific journal articles arising from taxpayer-funded research." (43,000. NIH already does it.)

    Enjoy !!

It's democracy with direct action and mostly sensible goals.

In other news, Standard Chartered Bank is paying out a $670m fine to settle with New York State for breaking laws related to hiding $250,000,000,000 of transactions for the terrorism-list rgime in Iran.

    That's treason.

    What else?

New York's Department of Financial Services gets a $$$$$ instead of bank personnel being put on trial and possibly executed. How nice.

Sell the SOBs one aluminum tube and you get 10 years. Bankers, nothing at all.
