  •  My condolences on the passing of your father. (12+ / 0-)

What a beautiful, beautiful diary.  I am a jazz fan today because of my father, who passed away eight years ago and who I still miss.
Thank-you so much for this diary.

    •  You're very welcome. (7+ / 0-)

Brubeck just brings it out of me. Always has, always will.

The priest said, "Today's sermon is called 'Liars', but first I have a question. How many of you have read Chapter 66 in Matthew?" Nearly every hand went up. "You're just the group I need to speak to," the priest said. "There's no such chapter."

I copied the little verse from mstaggerlee's diary.

Dad's copy of one of Brubeck's albums turned me on to jazz for the first time, back when I was 9 or 10 years old. I think the album was In Europe; in any case it was a live album that opened with a jazz version of Wonderful Copenhagen, a song that I knew but done in a very different style, which is a large part of what jazz is about.

and I found Wonderful Copenhagen on the album "I Like Jazz: The Essence of Dave Brubeck" on emusic.  He turned what is otherwise well suited for André Rieu (for whom I can appreciate) into a great little tune that's all Brubeck but still honors the original (which is also all Brubeck).  Thanks!

And yes, that little verse from mstaggerlee is brilliant.
