Torture is so wrong.  I cannot respect any government that tolerates it.

That Guantanamo still exists makes me puke.

Daily Kos an oasis of truth. Truth that leads to action.

legislators responsible for its continuation? Emails, phone calls?

When you hit the first obstacle, get an owie and sit around crying, you won't change anything.

And question #2: will it have any effect to write daily letters to the legislators?

Oh, I forgot, they want money.  If you give them LOTS of money, they might do something that you request.  Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Welcome to the best congress money can buy.

        •  Keep on complaining, that is just SO effective. (0+ / 0-)

Power, to be felt, has to hurt. Money is just a tool to inflict deprivation without leaving finger-prints. Money has proved more effective than the whip because, in combination with private property rights, money can actually determine who eats and who starves.
It's no longer a matter of those not working not getting to eat. Now it's a matter of those not getting paid not getting to eat and who gets paid is entirely up to those who control the money. And that, ultimately, is none other than the Congress, no matter how vociferously they deny it. Congress has been rationing money and rationing almost inevitably leads to hoarding. So now, because the rationing has obviously not been severe enough to make people vote right, there's more austerity in store. Those who lust for power perceive welfare as a dirty word. After all, their object is to cause distress, preferably without having it connected to themselves.
It was Durbin the Democrat who pointed the finger at the banks.

        acting to stop it.

The executive is responsible for doing it.

Buying a "you didn't stop me" defense is kind warped.  I know for a fact that not 1 person in a 1,000 would have bought it here 5 years ago.

This place needs a PVP server.
