this is actually a diary about great news, so let me also congratulate the pragmatic and fair-minded people of Colorado for voting these laws into place.  Both are great steps forward and I hope more states follow the lead on each issue.

    However, I would point out:

President Obama should pardon all those incarcerated for non-violent drug offenses, and give them a chance to restart they lives already damaged by our unjust, racist, and classist criminal justice system.
That can't happen.  This was a change in state law, not Federal law.  Obama is not allowed to pardon prisoners in Colorado State Penitentiaries.  ..unless, you meant that irrespective of Federal Law still criminalizing Marijuana, Obama should just pardon all the federal level prisoners jailed for this, .. um... in which case.. that WONT happen.

anyone of any crime, but if it is limited federal prisoners he should start there, and let governors follow his lead.

      I appreciated your clarification.

When quicker readers are skimming and see a WTF!!! comment up top it sometimes scares them off tipping or rec'ing under the assumption the author is being controversial.

I'm proposing what is becoming an increasingly mainstream view.  There was a poll released yesterday indicating that the percentage of American supporting decriminalization has gone up 10% since the election and is now a plurality.

      Thanks for commenting wisper.
