So you think progressives should never do anything in the name of "fiscal responsibility"? Just because some people equate that with austerity doesn't mean we have to let them. We have to fight for that term because it is actually a very important concept and something that we have to accomplish.

People like you who say people who work for the Roosevelt Insitute are "shit" now just because they are, my god, talking about budget deficits, are harmful to public discourse. Do you even know what they are saying about fiscal responsibility? Of course not, you just saw them partner with Peterson foundation and the term "fiscal responsibility" and made a judgment based on nothing.

Debt is real. Deficits are real. We have to own the term and fight those who equate the problems with austerity. We can't deride "fiscal responsibility" just because some are equating it with austerity. That is just silly. We need to fight back instead of ignoring the problem.

Repubs like to think the debt is the be-all, end-all and the government should be small enough to drown in the bathtub.

Lots of Dems completely ignore the 8% of GDP deficits and 100% of GDP debt like even mentioning them is a Republican plot.

I certainly have my own opinions about these things, but ideological thinking gets you into trouble. I'm reading Nate Silver's book and he makes the point that in many cases, the more sure you are of your predictions, the less likely they are to come to fruition.
