    swipe at Mr. Krugman." Did you actually read the diary?  That's what I thought after the title and a few sentences, and then I realized I was actually learning something, which is one reason I've stayed at DKos for more than 10 years despite many outrages.

    I think the diary's evidence is indisputable, and unfortunately, this does indeed diminish my respect for Krugman a little.

    He should joke about this.

      and reading a little further it appears the prize has been taken over by the same folks handing out the Nobels (Royal Academy of Sciences) and is awarded at the same ceremony. So while the point remains that its origination and purpose may have been very different, it is hard to argue that it is not basically a Nobel prize today... though if I understood what i read correctly that is all because the Swedish bank endowed a shitload of money to the Academy to include it.

      This didn't diminish my respect for Herb Simon or Daniel Kahneman one iota. Nobel was dynamite! If the semantics of it get you going, just note that it is the highest honor for the "dismal science" and go do something more useful than asking people if the actually read the diary.
