The only problem with the celebrating is that there is a cloud behind the silver lining.  First off, radio revenue in general is down so this isn't just a Limbat issue.  Second those very same national sponsors have pulled their ads from all talk radio not just the wing nuts so the whole pie is shrinking and since progressive talk is already a smaller slice we are being being pushed overboard in a higher degree.  Most of these companies didn't know how controversial all this talk stuff can be so rather than try to sort it all out they just said a pox on all your houses and put all talk on their do not play list.

Portland OR has lost it's progressive station,
the home port of Tom Hartman who now broadcasts from the other Washington.  KTPK in Seattle has already changed it's call and is set to go sports the first of the year.  That's it.  No more progressive talk in the highly progressive NW.  KTPK had a huge signal that covers half the population and 90% of the progressives in WA and if we can't support the format nobody can.

So either talk radio will soon be dead on terrestrial radio or the only thing left will pre-recorded wing nut rants that you can't call in to which is the point.  They aren't really listening.  In their world it's just talk at you radio and they may have won.

Personally I can't afford to pod-cast the people I want to hear and that just doesn't work for me anyway since I most often listen to them in the car.  Sorry I can't join in the celebrating; I'm in pre-morning for my daily dose of progressive talk.  Did I say that we have a half dozen sports stations already and that I don't give a rats ass about sports to start with.

So how is this a good thing.
