    ...with regard to something sensible and admirable that appeared in The American Conservative (TAC).  I can't even remember what it was...probably a critique of our imperialism, though not using those words because they don't.  Anyway, my dilemma viz. them is the same as my dilemma viz. Coburn or for that matter Rand Paul who holds similar views on defense spending: can we ever make common cause with people who deny the fundamental humanity of some sector of the population?  I could go either way on this, in part because I think it's very important to cut Defense and reduce our imperial footprint, but I defer to gay men and woman about whether we should work with Coburn.  It's nice that he shows some human kindness to Obama and Pelosi, who are more powerful than he is, but the real test is whether he can show some kindness, in words if not in policy, to people who aren't powerful.
