I have been convinced that we (humankind) could transform our energy system and this is just another piece of the puzzle, perhaps a very big one. Another piece is that we will not be able to do some things we are used to doing, at least not often. We cannot commute to work daily 50 miles with one person in a multi-ton vehicle, but we can work via skype and all that other stuff without going anywhere and live somewhere beautiful (or just live downtown and take a streetcar or walk to work).

The hard part is doing it fast and doing it everywhere and doing it smoothly in terms of minimal economic and social disruption. That is why we need to just politically roll right over the idiot climate change deniers sooner rather than later.

We have only just begun and none too soon.
