    Actually, bio plastic development is really progressing rapidly recently but the amount and variety produced is still relatively small compared to petroleum based materials.

    The original bio plastic is acetate (digested cellulose) and it was one of the first commercially produced. It is still one of the most beautiful plastics in the hands of a skilled artesian, a wonderful if somewhat flammable material.

    What about my Daughter's future?

      I guess comparing it to petroleum based plastic it isn't common at all. I just see it more and more.

      •  And it is finding some innovative uses (0+ / 0-)

        Since it can be more uniform in composition the usefulness as building block for synthesis is good, so engineering properties such as bio-degrability (THE major issue with plastics) may be easier.

        What about my Daughter's future?
