    There are decades of historical data that support what these policies do to an economy; and the need for a middle class with enough money to spend.

    However, the immediate effects on investors' and CEOs' pockets from actions that force short-term gains, are documented as well.  I do believe that people have always, historically, sought short-term gain, whether it was pleasure or profit, or whatever.  

    But as we get more information faster, and we travel faster, and our attention spans dwindle to nanoseconds, I believe we (as people; the general "we") pursue the short-term crap more and more.

    Buy Aldus Shrugged : The Antidote to Ayn Rand, and tear Ayn and the GOP new orifices. Plus, I get a small royalty, and Jeff Bezos and his employees get the rest. Not a bad deal, as CEO Bezos is not much of a dick, relatively speaking. @floydbluealdus1
