    If you were tall Corsairs were an option, with that big bubble of plastic. Hellcat pilots sort of looked down (in a sick sense) on tall pilots because they knew they's never have the pleasure of flying a Hellcat.

    My best buddy in college became a Navy/Marine fighter pilot in the Vietrnam days and he was well over 6 feet. He could jam himself in what he flew. He joined Navy Officer Pilot Training in college because he was hooked on speed so he figured why not let the government satisfy him.

    And I know a small college football lineman who became an F111 pilot. Now talk about scary flying in the early 70s. Lets go fly flat out at Russia until their radar finds us (sometimes in Russia), and then spin around and get out before they can shoot us down. Learned lots about their radar, but lost the occasional  111.
