  •  When you use an acronym, the first time (4+ / 0-)

should be accompanied by the words spelled out. I am going to guess UPMC stands for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. It would be good to know that up front, especially since people who aren't regular visitors to medical establishments may not be aware to what extent such enterprises have expanded into providing ancillary services such as restaurants and spas and exercise facilities, all, under the umbrella of promoting health through life-style management. Some of us old timers, when we think of extras at hospitals, count on a little gift shop for get well cards and perhaps a magazine to help while away the hours of waiting for the end to come. Also, candy stripers. But, that's about it. The extent to which medical centers have become social and cultural centers comes as a surprise to people who don't go near doctors except when they are really sick. Organized health maintenance was always suspect.
Don't think I begrudge you the employment. If we want healthy cooks anywhere, it's in hospital kitchens. Hospitals are dangerous places. Lots of people die there.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
