  •  Exactly. Dems are no longer the opposition party (24+ / 0-)

We need to lead. Voters gave us the keys again.

My pet idea is rebuilding every elementary school in the country more than 50 years old. Take the money from what is being save after the wars.

The jobs, the economic spillover, the pride kids will finally feel when they go to school.

Time to lay out projects that have such broad public support that the GOP will get steamrolled for opposing.

....to a hallway with a locked door at the other end: The House of Representatives.

If you hate government, don't run for office in that government.

......that we have a complete imbalance regarding party ideologies.  We find slightly less than 50% of congress in the hands of the uber right wing crazies and, at the same time, most of the Dems have taken the place of moderate Reblicans who no longer exist.  True liberals, such as Bernie Sanders, are few and far in between.

What we really desparately need now is bold and imaginative imagination accompanied by a healthy dose of political courage.  Talk is cheap; we need real action.

    •  I am not so sure about rebuilding but increasing (0+ / 0-)

the quality of education of everyone so more kids have the tools to thrive in the world we now live in would sure be a good goal.

Our money system is not what we have been led to believe. The creation of money has been "privatized," or taken over by private money lenders. Thomas Jefferson called them “bold and bankrupt adventurers just pretending to have money.” webofdebt

      •  How about if parents take a bit more (0+ / 0-)

responsibility in seeing that their kids are prepared to learn.

Teachers can do only so much. Why should the teacher have to deal with a classroom full of kids that haven't been taught to respect the person standing in front of the room.

While kindergarden is the place where children learn how to behave in school, children need to be taught by their parents to understand what is expected of them.

Parents have to be the teacher's "assistant" and not his/her advisory.

I've seen kids of different financial classes behave badly in public and the parent(s) doesn't give a damn. Doesn't care about the other people in the store or restaurant.

It’s the Supreme Court, stupid! Followed by: It's always the Supreme Court! Progressives will win only when we convince a majority that they, too, are Progressive.
