for the folks getting married in Washington state.  Congrats and a happy life together!  I wish the opportunity to marry had been open to my partner and me.  We spent 27 years together, I guess as an illegal couple.  He died before marrying-up became a reality.  It will probably never happen in NC, but I am so glad that there are parts of the country that recognize that it's not what but who you are to each other that matters.

opportunity for legality. I want to say that I wholly believe legality is meaningless when applied to the sanctity of intimate, spiritual love. My belief, no, my certainty is that marriage occurs intimately between individuals and that legality is a social formality.
That being said, I am happily amazed every time another state pipes up on the pro side of marriage equality. With all the stinkin' wahoos spouting off against it, it does my heart good, I find it edifying, when the majority of one state after another says "Yes. It is good."
