Romney's loss may represent the last time, going back probably to the era of the Scopes trial, that evangelicals may be close to really taking power in Washington.

Having gotten as close as they have, by riding the GOP like a cowboy rides a horse, the evangelicals are not going to go away or give up.

However, the needs of the time are for more of the kind of thinking that engineers, scientists, even construction contractors are familiar with - reality based problem solving.

Born again thinking isn't very useful because it relies on denying that which doesn't fit.

Will the GOP double down and nominate someone like Rick Santorum next time?  Or will they push the evangelicals off to the side and go more with someone in the mold of Nixon?

It will be one or the other.  There will be a huge fight to stay on top, after a very long period of building coalitions that are essentially evangelical.

hope that the idiots who have no constructive and creative solutions but only look to tear down will not win the day.
