    I'm particularly interested that North Carolina's miscegenation laws included Native American as an "acceptable" spouse of white person, other than another white person. (And the only exception to white only.)

    Presumably, because during colonial times marriages between Native Americans and settlers where not terribly uncommon, and thus, by 1924, no longer as taboo as marrying, God forbid, an African American or an Asian. And perhaps as a way to grandfather in existing marriages.

    And like there's a huge difference between an Asian and a Native American! Native Americans are just Asians who migrated some milleniums earlier for chrissakes, you dumb asses!

    It just goes to show how arbitrary and senseless these rules where.
