    I am not totally allergic to the term, but obviously prefer marriage equality, which I use most of the time.

    Activists are a little schzio on the idea, if you ask me. They bitch when their aren't gays in TV ads for marriage. They bitch when "gay" avoided, (like Human Rights Campaign). They complain about gay erasure (often appropriately)

    And then they bitch when gay IS used in reference to marriage. I get and prefer Marriage equality, but I don't think the occasional usage is so terrible. We all know what we're talking about.

      We all know that if "marriage equality" becomes the law of the land, gay people will get married.  Hence, we'll have gay marriages.

      I think if we keep using the term enough, we might just reclaim it.  Repetition may detoxify it in the minds of the general public.
