Abandoned cats are not a good thing
Gee, thanks for filling me in on that.  Animal rescue is not hoarding.  It's an expensive, thankless job foisted upon people who are attempting to clean up the mess made by irresponsible pet owners.

Living in a very rural area, we've rescued at least 6 dogs/puppies, a number of pet cats who were dumped, and are trying our best to deal with the ferals which have resulted from dumped pets producing wild offspring.  You think we ENJOY doing this?  We've spent a lot of money, a lot of time, and we can't even go on vacation because there is no one to take over these caretaking duties here.  We've also spent a HUGE amount of emotional capital dealing with the results of people's idiocy regarding their pets.  We've seen people dump aged pets that are in pain, and probably just want to die in their own homes , and we've taken them straight to the vet to be put down.  That's a nice way to spend a Sat. morning, right?  We have put off a move to another state that we've looked forward to for three years because we refuse to abandon animals that depend on us.

You do know that feral cats are much different than dumped pets, right?  You can't just "adopt them out".  It's possible....with some...after months of work and taming, but they are probably not going to be someone's "fluffy love bug", and may never fit into a house with children or other pets.

The basic difference between an animal rescue person and a hoarder is that hoarders want more and more and rescuers want less and less.  Hoarders would never neuter an animal.

If you're going to make authoritative sounding pronouncements in a public space, you should at least make an attempt to understand what you're talking about.  Loving cats is not a qualification to talk about rescue.  Experience is.  There are many people here with direct experience telling you that TNR for feral colonies is not something a hoarder would do.

So, yeah..abandoned cats and the offspring they produce are a problem.  Some of us are trying to fix that.  Some other people like to spread all kinds of misinformation about it and denigrate people who sacrifice quite a bit to help the situation.

I wish people wouldn't get so passionately attached to the idea of cute furry creatures.
And I wish there was some kind of test for pet ownership.  Looks like neither of us is going to get what we want.
