mentions it.  While I wasn't aware of the brief comments that he made about the OH bill, that's not really what I was talking about.

Is it possible that he might insert a line or 2 in this speech about the MI RTW bill?  Of course that's possible.  Is it likely that he'll do much more than that?  Doubtful.

Labor has been the foundation of Dem GOTV efforts since FDR's time.  As I recently noted, there is a direct correlation between union strength and Dem strength in a broad swath of states.  Labor is under a frontal assault right now--the IN and WI dominoes have already fallen, and, once MI falls, others will inevitably follow.

It's an existential threat to the Dems that is basically being treated as a sideshow.  Concepts like "competitiveness" and "fiscal responsibility" are economically meaningless a context where the right to organize is being directly challenged.  Future hopes for a Dem majority coalition are equally meaningless when one ponders the possibility that the sole organized source of foot soldiers is in a downward spiral that's now being accelerated.

Whatever the president says about this crisis will not likely come close to the depth of the problem.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?

especially when these are state level issues, in states where GOP controls the legislature and governor's mansion.

To me, issues like RTW, Medicaid expansion, and redistricting are great examples of why midterm elections matter.
