  •  If Snyder were sane (which he isn't) (5+ / 0-)

he would threaten to veto the legislation unless the appropriations rider were stripped.

That would allow the people to speak on the issue before it went into effect.  Of course, allowing the people speak is the furtherest thing from MI Legislature's mind.

The "attaching an appropriations rider" maneuver is obviously in violation of the intention of the Michigan Constitution that I'm surprised no one has yet proposed an amendment to undo their Supreme Court's decision.

Michigan governors have (and frequently use) the line item veto. Snyder could veto only the appropriation. The rest of the bill could be put on the ballot for the next election.

    •  He would veto it period... (0+ / 0-)

Should Michigan with all of it's problems spend the next two years and our limited progressive $$$$ to restore status quo ante? To get something back stolen from us in a three week lame duck session?

This is how they win even when they lose. We fight desperately for the chance to fight desperately for what we already had. Their billionaires drop a few tens of millions into the mix and we scrabble for a few hundred thousand... and maybe make it close. They win when they lose because this game is rigged.

These people need to have the fear of god instilled in them. I would prefer nonviolently... for as long as that can be maintained...
