in these types of shows is that many... if not most... AAs have blood related family that spans the spectrum from champagne to burnt sienna... My maternal Grandmother could pass for white; my mother is her spitting image in dark skin... my older brother and 3 of my sisters would be deemed "high yellow" and my younger brother, my youngest sister and myself are all much darker complexioned than our siblings... and all of our children if you lined them up you would not be able to tell which child belonged to which sibling... one Thanksgiving, my brother remarked that it looked like a beige baby convention... I say all that to say this... there is far more acceptance of diverse skin tone among AAs than some would like those unfamiliar with black family dynamics to think... yes there are a lot of self-loathing issues with skin tone and hair length and texture (the real place of conflict among us...not so much skin tone and light vs. dark but "good hair versus nappy hair") but black folk have always in the overall been far more pragmatic...

Fear doesn't just breed incomprehension. It also breeds a spiteful, resentful hate of anyone and everyone who is in any way different from you.
