  •  Yes you can (9+ / 0-)

but in order to do all those things  you pay a very high price, You must  learn how to drive and pass a test before you get  licensed. The car you own must be registered with and periodically inspected by the government or an agent of the government. And if you  behave poorly you loose the right to drive. Also  you must get your license renewed periodically. You must also have liability insurance. You car comes with airbags and crumple zones and seat belts all manner of things in an effort to make it safer for you and those around you.

In the end yes you may end having ACCIDENT that cause your death plus the death of other. However the key word here is accident.

And finally  you are not permitted to go out and buy a race and drive it on the road. So why should you be permitted or why would you want to buy a gun whose sole purpose, and why it was designed, is to kill people quickly with ammo that rips their insides to shreds.

I live in hunting country all my neighbors own guns but even they do  not understand the need to own what is basically a tactical weapon.

Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?

for me.  An across the board ban, no one gets them.  Military & Police included.

Driving is a privilege not an unalienable right.

We must address this as some point.

      •  Fine. Let's ban tanks because civilians (0+ / 0-)

        don't need them.

Now if we could get 192 countries to agree, yes, it would be fine. Tanks, machine guns, nukes, the lot.

Somebody at the Constitutional Convention proposed limiting the US army to 5000 men. George Washington remarked in a stage whisper, "A excellent idea! Let us add that no country will be allowed to attack us with more than 5000 men." It was the only time he broke out of his role as moderator of the discussions of the others. The proposal died on the spot.

        America—We built that!
