    •  A month after (5+ / 0-)

the election and suddenly ''Obama is not a Democrat''...type comments from the bomb-throwers.

''Obama has targeted SS and Medicare for years.''

I am sure that the President gets up every day hoping to somehow screw the old and sick...he is such an evil person.

      This crap is lame.
Someone says that Medicare is fully funded til 2019(actually 2024,thanks to Obamacare),and says it is fine without touching 7 years is a century away or something...that is crazy. 2024 will be here before you know it.and it would be irresponsible not to look for ways to push that expiration date out for at least a few decades.
The President has options here, like competitive bidding on Pharma products, and continued waste and fraud abeyance. And yes, maybe higher premiums for the wealthy.
The reality is that the GOP still control the House. He has to work around that, sooner or later. Reality bites,OK?
But,the President does not operate in a purist perfect vacumm, but a messy reality. Cut him some slack.

1965, Medicare has, on average, been funded for "only" 11 years beyond the then-current year.  In the early 70's, there was a year when it was only 7 years.  So, we are ahead of the curve at 12 years.

Ultimately, the only thing that matters with respect to preserving choice is who will be nominating the next Supreme Court Justices.
