    and for the first 8 of those years there was nobody who even had standing to challenge it because nobody was affected by it until MA offered marriage equality. For the next four of those years it only affected MA, so a challenge would have been pointless since its effects would be confined to just one circuit. It's only in the last 4 years that there have been decent test cases to challenge it

    In a dog-eat-dog world, rabies is an advantage in the short term.

      earlier challenges that ended mostly with dismissals because they took place under the Bush administration but it was very few and it started trending in the other direction after that. Some district judges were disinclined to rule that it was constitutional even before Feb 2011 when the Obama administration changed its view.
