  •  Pretty obvious why they turned coat (9+ / 0-)
would install one of the conservative Democrats, former Republican Rodney Tom of Bellevue, as the body’s majority leader and the other, Tim Sheldon of Potlach, as the president pro tempore.

These crooks are only in politics for their personal power and gain, and not at all for the good of the people, no matter who "supports" them. If in the future it's advantageous for  them to torpedo the R's, they'll do it in a heartbeat.
It's not that hard to evaluate a person's life trajectory when assessing him/her for a political role. Lust for power and willingness to sell out his/her side for personal gain are usually quite evident in this scrutiny. I wonder why the people who recruit, support, and help elect candidates don't perform this on the people they choose (unless these negatives are the exact reasons why he's chosen) . A leopard can't change his spots.
The sad thing is most of Washington is a progressive state.  Keeping guys like this in power only drags us back to a backward time.

    •  You said it all! (0+ / 0-)

I worked for Sarahjane Seigfried (46th District) who ran against a Dem (all of our candidates were primaried as Dems) named Jessyn Farrel, a woman backed by her rich husband's developement money and Paul Allen while Saajane was grassroots all the way.   From the town hall meetings it was obvious that Jessyn can only talk about transportation, transportation, transportation.  While Sarahjane, who has been active in the Democratic party for years and years and knew where all the bodies are buried, Jessyn has no clue about the other pressing issues in her district. Sarahjane walked every neighborhood and introduced herself, she knew the stories, whereas Jessyn only appeared at district meetings and the town halls but she bought all her advertisement to get "known"' Obviously it is all about the money with her, she bought the win (though barely, I will say many of the voters were astute enough to respect a REAL Dem).

In our US House race it was the same, DelBane bought her seat barely showing up for the town halls, etc while Darcy Burner worked her butt off showing jup to local events all the time.

I am just so sick of these people flashing the cash and then boom, they win even though they are well, not so smart.  I will swallow my bile and support Jessyn and Susan, but IMO both are business oreinted flacks who do not get the real issues in their districts, it is all about money, money money and not about the very serious issues facing so many of their constituents.

For instance, we have some environmental disasters just waiting to happen upstream from my local creek.  Over 700 trees have been cut to build condos and this stream runs under Bothell way, which becomes a river during any signficant rain or snow that is running into a pipe the circumfrence of a woman's arm into Lake Washington where the erosion is so bad that the pipe is hanging over Lake washington with over 20 feet suspended in the air.  Oh yeah and the Brightwater fiasco that is polluting the groundwater is ...still there puffing away .... But hey we might get some more condos since both of these women seem to believe that and tearing up our community with expensive trains is the magic answer to everything.

      •  Well, I feel like a dupe (0+ / 0-)

I voted for Farrell. Clearly I am not paying close enough attention to local politics.

I didn't actually see either one of them come out and campaign. The only two I had seen were, ironically, neither that I voted for. Don't know why I did that. I was under the impression that Farrell had the more forceful personality, which at the time I thought was necessary. Now I feel pretty stupid.
