    However, on the subject of the baroque: good church is good theatre, a famous person (who?) once said. Whoever it was was almost certainly Anglican. ;)

        Less well-known but equally funny:

        Bankhead, while contemplating a large crucifix near the confessionals at St. Mary the Virgin one Christmas Eve: "Smile, darling, it's your birthday!"

        More Tallulah, to Tennessee Williams: "You and I are the only consistently high Episcopalians."
