At least not the 2013-2014 legislature. I mean, could they? Yes. Will they? Absolutely not. The GOP will still control both houses. Even if they somehow got a bill through the House with a few GOP defectors siding with the Dems, it would be DOA in the Senate, where the GOP has a 2/3 majority. (The Senate wasn't up this year, only the House.) And they'd never get anywhere close to a veto-proof majority anyway.

    •  what about when they replace Snidley, the House (2+ / 0-)

and the Senate with Democrats? --which voters might want to well do once things go to pot under this law.

Tomorrow they're going after public education, right?

      •  If they can pull that off, then yes. (2+ / 0-)

But it would have to be the trifecta: Snyder gone, plus picking up both chambers (or at least getting a tie in the Senate + a Dem governor). If the GOP still controlled either house the leadership would almost certainly prevent it from getting to the floor for a vote, even if some Rs were in favor.

So yes, if they could pull off electing a Dem governor plus Dem majorities, then the legislature could repeal it. It's a very tall order, but it's possible.

Personally, I like the idea of a citizen's initiative to replace the new law(s). If they (i.e., the anti-RTWFL folks) do that, and voters approve, then RTWFL becomes a dead issue unless the GOP can round up 3/4 majorities in both houses. I doubt even they can gerrymander THAT result.
