    In this area, as in so many others, the laws do not always make sense.

    My pocket knife is concealed as long as it's in my pocket, but if it's a little bit too long...?

    Illegal.

    I am a historical re-enactor -- so if I'm dressed one way and on my way to, from, or at an event, I can carry a sword, a flintlock, an axe, any number of other things completely legally.

    If I'm not wearing that pirate hat?  It's illegal.

    A lot of the regulations must have been made by someone who just thought it "felt" right without actually considering what it really meant.  

    Yes, I often dress as a pirate. Your point?
