    •  Yes, there is a lot of hatred and contempt (14+ / 0-)

involved in what they are doing.

First they take millions of middle-class people & turn them into poor people, then they hate on the poor people that they have created, then they set these hated poor people out in the cold and leave them hungry and without medical care.

All the while threatening what little middle class that is left with the same fate if they don't surrender completely on every issue: unions, education, tax breaks for the rich, etc, etc etc.

I'm not sure a word has been invented yet that describes the stage of Capitalism that we are in.

To my knowledge it has not been described or dreamed of. But I am certainly not the expert on political economy.

      •  I think the term is fascism (5+ / 0-)

as defined by Mussolini, only in reverse order.  Now the Corporations own the government.

        Reverse fascism?

        Corporatism?

        Dystopia?

        Sick and wrong?

This won't end well, if history is prescient?

Between the deathly weather events caused by global warming (which I believe is on a kinetic, irreversible course for decades even if we stop carbon emissions today) and the greed controlled governments, it feels like we are screwed if we keep cooperating.

Non-cooperation is needed by the masses, and yes that can be disruptive; however, so is ever increasing, prolonged financial insecurity that chips away at society's emotional health.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

        •  I think facism, neo or proto or out right (4+ / 0-)

is how they would like to rule, disguised as democracy of course. But they are losing the base that would allow them to rule in that way. Fascism requires a base in the masses. They tried all the bells and whistles they could think of in the last election. It didn't work.

Could be that they are in a bit of panic mode right now.

Next best for them would be out right authoritarian government with all the democratic institutions destroyed, ie unions, public schools, city governments. Michigan is well on the way to this. No further pretense of democracy. "For our own good."

          We shall see. Looking grim.

I agree we will need to learn extreme non-cooperation and resistance.

          •  sounds about right. They are using extortion now (5+ / 0-)

because they were unable to steal the election through voter suppression or win the masses through blatant lying and propaganda. Bullies and cowards who seek authoritarian dictatorship and demand that they get their way or else the world gets it!.... greedy power hungry bastards deceiving the low informed voters with misinformation and mass marketing targeting manipulation.
Does that about sum it up?

There was a time when I would have said that that statement was hyperbole, but now I think it sums them up in a nutshell.

              •  Tried almost two years AGO to warn ppl (5+ / 0-)

80 Years of Planning: The Kochs + The Family + Birchers = No Democracy

Actually, I began shouting the warnings a little over two years ago

The Gloves are Off:  US Becoming ProtoFascist

We all know that behind this are powerful men with panache and piles and piles of pecuniary power, as in the Koch Brothers and multi-nationals, enriched polluters who care little for the land or the people.

We also know that many of the same multi-nationals that funded the German Nazis (IBM leased key punching machines and sold punch cards to Hitler to track Jews in camps/deaths), Franco's Spain, Salazar's Portugal, Papadopoulos' Greece, Pinochet's Chile, Isabel Martínez de Perón's Argentina, and Suharto's Indonesia fund Christian conservatism worldwide.

                We must ask ourselves:

If they were not averse in profiting from the horrors that were WWII,

not averse in conspiring with despots and demogogues for power and profit in country after country, and

not averse to the pain and death that resulted,

why would we think they would be averse to harming the good people of America for profit and power?

They are not averse to causing pain here.

                Look around.

We are witnessing the rise of ProtoFascism as the profiteers fund their necessary tool:

The Angry Mob/Haters/Theocratic Zealots in the Military/Police

                IT CAN HAPPEN HERE!

And now Wall Street owns the armies of Dyncorp and Blackwater, most of the gun/assault weapon manufactures, and even bullet mfr's.

                What could possibly go wrong.

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

But think if we do go that direction more likely the model will be Chile, Pinochet rather than Germany, Hitler.

Authoritarian right wing rather than fascism.

                  Time will tell, of course.

                  Neither is pretty.

Destroying unions and other democratic institutions was important to both.

about the direction this country will go in for years.  I began to worry during the Carter years with the adverse reaction to the informatiuon on climate and pollution.  Then Reagan and I knew we were goners.  There is only so much money one could make in America.  I could see that business was going global and I could extrapolate that the middle class in America had lost it's usefullness.  The world is their playground now and we are just the serfs.

If they dare to touch Medicare or Social Security, instant end to Congressional pensions and healthcare-for-life.

Get this country in an uproar.  They are stripping health care from our work packages and they don't want to provide backup.  None for us, none for them.  I also want to push drug testing for all.  If my job requires it so should theirs.  Watch how fast drug testing goes away.  I want a law saying if you require it, you have to get it too.

      •  They want to punish the American people for both (7+ / 0-)

electing and re electing an African American who thinks faster than they do, and for all the other things on which most of America refuses to agree with them, apparently confident in so doing that they and their financial contributors, forget the constituents, will not be hurt horribly in so doing.  They genuinely do not care about the consequences of what they are advocating, since it does not match their ideology.Reminds me of Stalin killing off the farmers, kulaks,  and then discovering there was  not enough food to feed the rest of Russians.
