    •  I can't read x-rays, but there are a lot of (5+ / 0-)

questions to ask the vet. Is it a partial or complete tear?
Is the other knee affected (in 50% of cases after the first knee is surgically repaired the 2nd knee goes out.)

What kind of surgery will be done? Is weight loss needed?

Whats really happening with ACL surgery is that the
ligament is being stabilized and an attempt is being made to prevent future arthritis.

A lot of people can't afford the treatment so use pain management, controlled diet and exercise as well as supplements to prevent arthritis.

Given the high price of the x-rays already done I would shop around for surgeons that charge less. Some are traveling surgeons that come to your vets clinic so they don't have overhead to pay for so aren't as expensive.

This is such a common surgery though that surgeons aren't really needed - as in specialized surgeons. Any clinic with 4 or more vets has one that does these every day or so.

There is a special credit card that any vet can hook you up with- Care Credit that can help pay also.
