    •  It's crazy to me. I can't think of one rational.. (10+ / 0-)

reason for not happily plunging over the cliff.  I never hear anyone mention this is a GOP tax increase: because their lies about the extent of the (easily predicted) Bush surplus destruction were so enormous they had to end the cuts to avoid CBO scoring the ugly numbers in years past 9.

Why are Dems talking about anything other than the new tax cut bills for the middle class they will be introduce 1 January, post tax cut expiration?

We don't want to look like we want it because it will be horrible for some people and America in general.

When James Dean's car goes over the cliff you don't want to be holding the starters flag.

Unemployment == waste, fraud and abuse.

        •  I don't agree. If the Dem Senate passes a... (6+ / 0-)

tax cut for 98% of Americans on 1 January 2012, 98% of Americans will be watching the GOP House to see if they concur.

Same on extension of long term unemployment.
Same on extension of payroll tax holiday.
          Same on critical infrastructure projects.
Same on restoration of critical Pentagon project funding.

Let the Dem Senate pass it on January First, and the whole country will watch to see what the Republican House does with those bills.  Why would they blame the Democrats?
