Somewhere in an employee area there is a huge poster that has all the Federal employee rights stuff on it. It's poorly designed so that it's almost impossible to read, and mostly people look right past it.

What you should look for is anything that says "OSHA." There should be a compliance person listed within your office, and also an 800 # to call with complaints (whistle-blowing).

The first place to start would be with a very polite "just wondering. . . " inquiry to whoever within your office is responsible for OSHA compliance, with the obvious questions such as whether there is adequate (and functioning) ventilation, and is it permitted to have the plotter and printers in an open area near work cubicles rather than off in a separate area somewhere.

who seems to be more affected by this has already broached the subject with HR.  We'll see.  Thx.

"It is not, you fucking liberal prick." ..My RW friend Dave's last words to me.
